Agua Viva Ministries provides assistance such as food, clothing, housing, medical needs, etc. to needy people in Agua Prieta, Mexico. Christian teaching and relief work are administered by volunteer organizers RoseMary Townsend and John VerWys who are assisted by visiting work teams and caring individuals. This work has been carried out from Douglas, Arizona for 15 years.

In 2005 a Canadian non-profit society was established to represent numerous Canadian supporters of Agua Viva Ministries. Under the direction of a volunteer board the Society will help with administration work under the following mission statement:
  • To help alleviate human suffering through building and development projects and emergency relief assistance that foster self-reliance and preserve human dignity.
  • To organize volunteer relief work teams to developing countries in order to provide Canadians with a mission experience.
  • To educate and inform the public on the needs of the poor and how these needs can be met.
  • To foster community spirit and giving through fund raising events and projects related to supporting families and communities in need.
  • To glorify God and give testimony to how He is working in the building of His kingdom.
The Value of Missions

Our logo represents "living water in a dry, thirsty land." Agua Prieta (Spanish) means Dark Water (English) while Agua Viva means Living Water. The mission of Agua Viva Ministries is to bring LIFE to DARKNESS - the gospel of Jesus Christ in Word and Deed to needy people.
